Islamic Based Terrorist attack thwarted (planned for San Francisco – Pier 39 – Christmas).

Some Key Factors / criteria for the Islamic based terrorist attack planned for San Francisco  which was thwarted, are listed below. These are factors which we must be on alert for. Think about them when you are in public areas.

  •  The Suspect was posting and liking pro-ISIS and pro – terrorism content  on Facebook. (notice the hand gesture popular with ISIS jihadis).
  •   he picked Christmas as the perfect day” for a terror attack in San Francisco.
  •   he “did not need an escape plan because he was ready to die.”
  •   he picked the location because “…it was a heavily crowded area.” (Pier 39).
  •   plan appeared to include using a combination of  vehicle, firearms, and explosives  to inflict casualties.
  •  it would be easy to “funnel” people into an area where he could inflict casualties.
  • he was inspired by the Islamic based New York terror attack on Oct. 31, when a man drove into a crowd and killed eight people, and the deadly Islamic 2015 shooting in San Bernardino.
  • he had prior military experience with a “sharpshooter” rifle qualification and expertise with rifle marksmanship.

Suspect in shooting of California deputy previously deported

(Eureka Times-Standard) The man suspected of shooting a three-year Humboldt County sheriff’s deputy in the left shoulder with a 12-gauge shotgun at a Ferndale dairy farm early Sunday morning was a Mexican national here illegally who was previously deported in 2015, according to Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal.

At a press conference Monday morning, Honsal said both the injured deputy, whose name is not being released at this time, and the suspect Hugo Parral-Aguirre, 30, are in stable condition and are no longer in the hospital. Hugo had three gunshot wounds after two deputies returned fire, Honsal said.

Honsal said the outcome was “very lucky” because the female deputy who was shot could have been killed if the shot had struck her a few inches away.

Outraged by new whistleblower revelations of horrifying wrongdoing by federal officials in the Bundy case — one official kept a “kill list,” others withheld evidence from the defense — prominent lawmakers in Western states are asking Congress and the Trump administration to investigate. The government’s case, which gained national attention after a 2014 armed standoff in Nevada between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bundy family and its supporters, appears to be crumbling. But even as it appears increasingly likely that the defendants will soon walk free, officials say the alleged crimes perpetrated by government officials must not be allowed to go unpunished.

As The New American reported on December 19, a memo by whistleblower Larry “Clint” Wooten, who served as the lead BLM investigator on the case, revealed an incredible array of misconduct by heavily armed bureaucrats. Among the most alarming revelations: Special-agent-in-charge Dan Love, already under investigation by Congress, kept a “kill list” as a “trophy” commemorating ranchers whose deaths he contributed to. Apparently the bureaucrat was proud of his role in driving three Utah ranchers to commit suicide. The whistleblower memo also exposed Love’s extremely bizarre habits, including photographing his own excrement and his girlfriend’s genitalia and sending the images to colleagues.

Initial CCW class with drawing from holster

This weekend another Shasta Defense initial full CCW holster drawing class was completed. The husband wife team  did a great job. My classes have a maximum of 4 students.

As with prior classes, the students found the Tueller Drill to be an eye opener. It is important to bridge the gap between merely reading, or watching a video, and “doing”. It is almost without exception that, after completing the  live fire Tueller Drill,   students checked the box on the range control form which reads:  “I would have been stabbed multiple times and most likely dead”.  This serves to reinforce the training of not standing still (along with other factors). Thus, move off of the line of attack. We then conducted drills of moving off  the line of attack (left and right) while drawing and firing. This was followed by the student actively scanning 360 degrees, while maintaining aggressive weapon retention, and then moving to cover, firing from behind cover, scanning, reloading and holstering. Of course the class had many other active live fire drills, including: moving to the scene before engagement of the threat, and considerations to avoid being SHOT by other CCW holders, bad buys, or police; moving to a location and firing from a grounded position under  a vehicle (getting up and moving to cover); considerations of bullet “bounce” or “reflection” off of hard surfaces; “drop gun drill”; clearing malfunctions, reloading under stress; avoiding “reflexive spin”, “interview”  with police, and more.

“The massive and barely contained Thomas Fire in Southern California has consumed more than 230,500 acres, and the emergency has caused residents in fire-threatened areas to evacuate. Amateur Radio volunteers remain active supporting communication …

“Loss of primary power has required using the solar power backup capabilities, but, unfortunately, the heavy smoke has made that backup less than fully reliable,” … . In addition some sites are down because of power outages, and at least one hilltop site was overrun by fire.

…In addition to power loss to repeater sites, solar panels charging off-grid batteries have been affected by the huge plumes of smoke blocking the sun.”  Read more HERE

Emergency Communications – Cell Towers and thieves

You have your firearms for self defense – but what about emergency communications in a disaster?

What if thieves were to steal the batteries from your local cell tower(s)?  The impact is that when the electricity goes out, the cell tower runs on battery power. When the thieves steal the batteries, – you don’t have a cell phone.

Also, with the large scale fires in Southern California, cell towers were burnt to the ground.
